The nominees for this month’s award are:
Bayley Hutchison – Aberdeen FC
Aberdeen FC Co-Manager, Stuart Bathgate, said: “Bayley continued her fine start to the season in both of our matches in December prior to the winter break.
“While grabbing another four goals, lifting her season tally to 14 will attract attention, it’s Bayley’s all-round contribution to the team that stands out for us. Her ability to bring others into the game or create something out of nothing is fantastic to see in such a young player and has played a key role in the start to the season the team have had.
“It’s a pleasure to be able to work with a player of Bayley’s talent and she would be a worthy winner of this award”.
Chloe Muir – Hamilton Academical
Chloe Muir has capped a brilliant December with a key goal and assist as Accies made it two wins out of two for the month. The winger was a constant thorn in a determined Queens Park side creating several chances for the Accies front line in the 2-0 victory.
Muir played a key part in the tight win over Stirling, firstly winning a penalty after latching onto a dangerous cross before starting and finishing an excellent move to pick up all three points in storm hit Stirling. Her form saw her take the Accies December Player of the Month.
Hamilton Academical Manager, Gary Doctor, said: “It’s great to see Chloe nominated for the SWPL Player of the Month after her Accies award. She has been maturing as a player this season which we say in her goal in particular and I’m happy to see her hard work is being noticed by her peers”.
Lizzie Arnot – Rangers FC
Lizzie Arnot provided a strong attacking force netting four goals in Rangers’ two December fixtures.
The Scotland international was at the centre of the Light Blues 9-0 victory over Motherwell as she scored her first hat-trick for the club, while setting up another two goals that afternoon.
In the final game before the winter break, the ex-Manchester United forward was again on the scoresheet as Rangers beat Glasgow City 5-0 at Broadwood picking up the Player of the Match award in the process.
With goals and assists, Lizzie was a key figure in the Rangers team in their two December matches.
Natalie Ross – Celtic FC
Celtic FC Head Coach, Fran Alonso, said: “Natalie has been outstanding for Celtic this season, having been a dominant presence in midfield both on and off the ball.
“She has been a key part of our unbeaten run, especially in December, when she scored an injury-time equaliser against Forfar to save a point after been 0-2 down in the 89th minute, sealing Natalie the player of the match award.
“A week later in the 5-0 win versus Motherwell Natalie was again superb, dominating in midfield and getting a further assist to add to her fantastic stats so far this season.
“Natalie was definitely Celtic’s top performer in December and is certainly deserving of this award”.
