#SBSSWPL 2: Partick Thistle v Hamilton Academical

February 18th 2019

Partick Thistle and Hamilton Academical will have to wait a little longer for their first win of the season, after drawing 1-1 at Petershill on Sunday afternoon.

Accies made the perfect start in the North of Glasgow when Kirstie McIntosh won the ball high up the pitch before playing in Dionne Brown, who found the bottom corner with ease to give the visitors a second minute lead.

On ten minutes, Loren Christie sent a shot from distance just over the bar, before Hamilton went close immediately at the other end when McIntosh was denied by Nicolle Andrews.

That was about it for the first half but it took Thistle just three second half minutes to level the score.

A long ball forward looked easy for Lauren Grant to grab but as she slid in to collect, she managed to lose control of the ball allowing Mhairi Hawksworth to roll it into the empty net from a tight angle.

McIntosh was a constant menace to the Thistle backline and had two quick-fire chances midway through the half, first dragging a shot wide before being denied by another Andrews save.

The best chance of the half also fell the way of Accies, with Nichola Sturrock finding a trialist whose flicked effort came back off the crossbar.

Andrews then tipped a late free-kick round the post as Thistle held on for a deserved point.

Next up is the SWPL League Cup with both sides hosting SWPL 1 opposition, as Hamilton face Spartans and Partick Thistle welcome Rangers to Petershill.
