Glasgow City remain top of Scottish Building Society SWPL 1 after a convincing 4-0 win over bottom-club Hearts at Oriam.

Two goals in the opening nine minutes set the champions on their way with Priscila Chinchilla and Cailin Michie both netting. Hearts recovered to battle back gamely, but Julia Molin and Jo Love added further gloss to the scoreline for City.

And there was more bad news for Hearts with goalkeeper Ailey Tebbett being forced off after a collision.

Hearts remain two points adrift of seventh-place Motherwell, who lost 3-1 to Spartans. City are still three points ahead of Rangers, who hammered Forfar Farmington 11-0.

City returned to Edinburgh looking to complete a capital double, days after their narrow 2-1 victory over Hibernian.

The game was off to a fantastic start when Crichton’s shot was cleared off the line only to break to Chinchilla, who swept the ball home from six yards out.

The pressure continued and three minutes later the ball was in the Hearts net once more, this time from Cailin Michie who scored her first goal for Scott Booth’s side. The former Hibs player drove with the ball down the right before cutting inside and hitting a beautifully placed left-foot strike into the far corner.

The young American goalkeeper Tebbett had to be on her toes to deny Chinchilla a second goal midway through the first half.

Hearts tried to get their foot on the ball more at the beginning of the second half, although it was a return to normal service from the first half as Glasgow City piled on the pressure with a gilt-edged chance ballooned over the bar by Chinchilla.

Disaster struck for Hearts as their player of the game Tebbett was forced off injured following a collision in the box.

And, in her absence, a cross-come-shot from Molin avoided everyone in the box and ended up in the back of the net.

They missed the young American notably again when the ball bounced around the area, eventually falling to Love who prodded home.

Charlotte Parker-Smith redeemed herself moments later when she saved a penalty from Chinchilla with a stunning diving save to her left. And she saved well again from Chinchilla and Mairead Fulton to keep the score down to four.
