It’s another record-breaking season for Scotland’s most successful ladies team. Ainslie Park saw a tremendous turn out as both Hibernian Ladies and City fans were out in force to cheer on their teams.
Although Hibernian Ladies lost 0-3 in a hard fought game, after the final whistle, they applauded Glasgow City as they lifted the cup.
Congratulating Glasgow City on their win, Kerra McKinnie, Head of Marketing and Communications at Scottish Building Society said: ‘It’s an honour to present the Scottish Building Society SWPL 1 trophy today to a team that deserve to finish top of the league after winning against such fierce competition. They have enjoyed a busy season and are an inspiration to younger players eyeing up their future in the game.’
Laura Montgomery, Club Manager of Glasgow City said: “I am incredibly proud of the team and all the staff. To win eleven titles in succession is nothing short of remarkable. This season we have risen to the biggest games and ultimately that has been the difference. We have not lost a goal in the League since May and that shows just how strong we have been all over the pitch. Thank you to our supporters for their incredible support throughout the season and of course to our sponsors who believe in us and women’s sport.
